“Classics & Comics” from Oxford University Press

This intriguing new book examines the reception of the Greek and Roman worlds by the comic book industry, showing how both history and mythology have been adapted for a predominantly young, non-specialist audience. The works of noted comic book artists Frank Miller and Jack Kirby are discussed, alongside a wide variety of strips from North America, Europe and Japan. All articles in the book have been specially commissioned and will provide new insights into the Classical origins of such iconic characters as Asterix and the Sandman.
