New Online Translation of the Protagoras: Your Input Welcome

Dhananjay Jagannathan, a postgraduate student at Oxford’s Balliol College and regular Blackwell customer, is currently working on a new online translation of Plato’s Protagoras in response to the numerous outdated versions now available for free on the net.

Dhananjay’s blog features his new translation using contemporary English that he feels best captures the spirit of the original, alongside the Greek texts and the 19th century Jowett version commonly available for free online. While today’s students doubtless appreciate having access to an out of copyright text that can be downloaded to the iPhone, Jowett’s English can be difficult to follow and newcomers may not develop an intrest in Plato as a result.

In order to provide the most accurate and engaging translation possible, Dhananjay would appreciate your feedback. This can be done by leaving a comment in the relevant section on his blog which you can find at http://openprotagoras.wordpress.com.
